Today I saw someone claiming that photography trends over the next year or so will be changing. That golden hour and sunsets would no longer be *the thing.* I didn’t cry when skinny jeans left. I didn’t cry when I saw that ankle socks are on their way out. But sunsets and families. No way. I will fight someone. What are your thoughts?

Here’s what your photographer wants you to know!

Families that radiate love and connectedness will look like love and connectedness when photographed. What do I mean by this? If you show up willing to surrender, and actually *be* with each other, actually genuinely *play* with your kids, and really *love* on each other, it couldn’t be easier my friend and your photos will look just like that.

I know what you’re saying - yes that’s great, Liz but what about unruly kids? What about the tantrums? What about the fight my husband and I had while trying to make it here on time? The outpouring of sweat as I try to wrangle my one year old?

NONE OF IT MATTERS! Let all of that go! What matters is what’s standing right here and right now. Kids cry. Husbands get grumpy. Tantrums and all the wild. Sweatstaches. It happens! But it’s the bones of your story and the heart of what’s happening between the poses that counts. The milliseconds that punctuate the chaos are what family storytelling photographers watch for and we got you. But you have to keep loving and you have to keep laughing, and just roll with the chaos as it comes. If you can do that, your photographer can do the rest.

I beg you to abandon the stress of your life, if only for an hour, and just take in your incredible view — your front row seat to their childhood, and romanticize the heck out of your life.

Just like @kaylabreaphoto and her family — they always floor me by doing all of this and way more when I see them, and I walk away every time feeling so blessed to have them in front of my lens.
